Bantwal: Police arrest accused of minor rapist after 11-months of manhunt

Bantwal, 25 Mar 2015: The police team of Bantwal and Vittal arrested a person accused of raping a minor girl and threatening to kill her, at B C Road here on Tuesday March 24.
The arrested has been identified as thirty-year-old Jabbar, a resident of Karyady in Kula village, near her.
Background of case
Bobbekeri Basheer secured the mobile number of a fourteen-year-old Muslim girl, a resident of Kolpe, near Urimajal in Idkidu village, near here, when she had gone to recharge her mobile number at a shop. Bobbekeri Basheer made friendship with that girl and lured her to come in her car on April 18 2014. Bobbekeri Basheer took her to Madikeri along with his friend two-wheelers thief Basheer, where both raped her in a secluded area en route. They returned to their respective home, while two-wheelers thief Basheer called her on April 19 night asking her to come to his home. He made her to believe that he will marry her and raped her. Jabbar who came to of this, called the girl and threatened her to kill, if she does not come with him. It was stated in the police complaint lodged by the girl onApril 23.
Vittal police registered a case in this regard. The police arrested the two-wheelers thief Basheer, a resident of Radhukatte, Kodangai, Padnoor village and Basheer Yane Bakuta Basheer, a resident of Bobbekeri, in Kasaba village from his hideouts at Jamnagar and Dwaraka district on May 17 2014. The police presented both already married accused in the court at Mangaluru.
The police laid the manhunt to find another accused Jabbar who was hiding in Tiruvanantapuram, Kerala and with a sure tip-off arrested him at B C Road, while driving a truck here on Tuesday.
Bantwal rural station ASI Rakshit A K, Vittal station designated-ASI Chandrashekarayya, police personnel Chidanand Rai, Girish, Janardhan, Praveen Rai, Praveen Kumar and Lokesh arrested Jabbar, at the instruction of Bantwal circle inspector Belliyappa.
