Apolitical leaders wage struggle to widen roads at Belman

Karkal, 13 Feb 2015: Apolitical and like-minded shopkeepers held discussions with highway officials, to solve the widening and installing road dividers issue in Belman town, as the development works on Padubidri – Karkal state highway is at the last stages. The issue has been are unnecessary politicized by vested interests.

 

 

The local leader Nandalike Chavadi Aramane Suhas Hegde who was successful in saving Belman in an apolitical struggle against the proposed Suvarna Corridor project, along with locals held talks with highway representative Uday Shetty, urging to widen the road even clearing the shops that are functioning on encroached government lands and public works department, without causing injustice to none.    

 

Shodan Kumar Shetty and hundreds of locals were present at the spot.

 

Karkal rural police sub-inspector Mahadev Shetty and policemen provided security on the occasion.
