M’luru: Blood camp at Besant Evening College

Mangaluru, 31 jan 2015: At the joint aegis of Besant Evening College students union council, NSS unit, Alma Mater and KMC, blood donation camp was held at the College auditorium, here recently.
Nagar Narayan Shenoy, eminent advocate and international level sportsman, correspondent of the Besant Evening College inaugurated the programme.
Shenoy in his inaugural address, stressed the importance of blood donation and its impact on society.
Faculty from KMC, Dr.Yashavanth highlighted the basic physical fitness required for donating blood. He also said that when blood is donated the blood cells get regenerated within 3 months and therefore a healthy person can donate blood once in 3 months.
The College principal Dr Carmelita Goveas presided the programme. In her presidential remarks, Dr Goveas stressed that to become a hero you need not go to Mars or act in movies but by donating blood to save a precious life one can become a true hero in life. She urged the students to donate blood once in 3 months.
Professor Ishwar Poojary, advisor of Alma Mater welcomed the gathering. Prof. NSS officer Vishwanath Achar proposed the vote of thanks. Anjali and Vinuta rendered the prayers. The College commerce Association secretary Yogesh Sharma compered the programme.
The Students Union Council president Sharath N Rao and Alma Mater president Sunil Kumar, NSS secretary Sushanth Jadav were present on this occasion.
