DK to get 29 new GPs, Udupi gets 16
Mangaluru, 11 Jan 2015: The Karnataka state government has given the approval for the formation of 439 gram panchayats (GP) in the state, including 29 GPs in Dakshina Kannada District and 16 in Udupi district, during a cabinet meeting convened at Bengaluru on Friday, January 9.
A committee headed by S.G. Nanjayyanamath, chairman of the Gram Panchayat Delimitation Committee had made the recommendations after it had completed the delimitation process in all the districts. The process also involved accepting applications for the creation of the new gram panchayats from the public and elected representatives from respective districts.
Addressing the press persons after the cabinet meeting Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs, Animal Husbandry, Muzrai T B Jayachandra said a onetime grant-in-aid of Rs 131.70 crore will be released and Rs 69.5 lacs will be released annually.
List of GPs are
Bantwal : Ammunje, Arala, Barimaaru, Bolanthur, Irvathurm Kalligem Maanunalkuru, Manila, Netlamudnuru, Peraje, Sajapapadu and Salethur.
Belthangady : Kadirudyavara, Kalanja, Pilya, Navoor and Tekkaru.
Mangaluru : Athikaribettu, Badeyedapadavu, Iruvail, Kondemppla, Maloor, Muthoor and Valvadi.
Puttur : Kadyakonaje, Keiyoor, Kudipady and Nidpalli.
Sullia : Peruvaje. With this the total number of GPs in DK district will shoot up to 232 from the present 203 GPs.
Udupi district
Udupi will get 16 new GPs, taking the total GPs to 162. Karkala will get Kalya, Chara, Nandalike, Kervashe, and Irvathur GPs to the present 29 GPs. Kundapur will get Gulwady, Gopady, Hosadu, Idoorkunhady, Katbeltoor, Kandavara, Korgi, Taggarse, Ulloor, and Yedamoge GPs, taking the tally to 66. Udupi taluk will get one additional GP, Neelavar. Henceforth,Udupi will have 62 GPs.
Apart from Dakshina Kannada District the state government has also approved creation of GPs in Bagalkot, Bengaluru (Rural), Bengaluru (Urban), Belgavi, Ballary, Bidara, Vijapura, Chamaranagar, Chikkaballapur, Chikmagalur, Chitradurga, Davangere, Dharwad and Gadag districts.
