Puttur: 3-Day Training Program on Consumer Edu at St Philomena College

Puttur, Nov 19, 2014: Suraksha Consumer Forum of St Philomena College inaugurated the three-day training programme on consumer education at Prerahna Hall of the College here recently.
The programme was inaugurated after the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.
The inaugurator of the function M J Salian, president of DK district Federation of Consumer Organizations said, ‘Theoretical training and practical training are the two aspects of consumer education. Consumer education provides the public with information they need on products and services. It also helps the consumers understand their rights and become active participants in the buying process. Consumer education ensures that the companies provide compensation to the consumers when their rights are exploited.’ He also gave a gist of the activities that will be conducted in the three-day training programme on consumer education.
The College principal Professor Leo Noronha in his presidential address said, ‘Consumer is the king but if he has to take the advantage he has to be aware of the intricacies involved in Consumer Protection Act. Consumer education is complete when the theoretical aspect is supported by the practical experience.’
The convener of Suraksha Consumer Forum Professor Dinakara Rao welcomed the gathering. Nishel Asha D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks. Mukunda Krishna, president of Suraksha Consumer Forum compered the programme.
