Udupi, 05 Oct 2014: The house of a grieving family, which was performing the rituals following death of their mother in a hall in Udupi was decamped in broad day light by miscreants. The thieves have fled with Rs 2,500 in cash and gold ornaments costing over Rs 1.95 lac on October 3.

Moodanidambur Rathnakar Suvarna and family were performing ‘vaikunta samaradhane’ of his mother on October 3 at Sri Narayana Guru Mandir at Bannanje. At about 11.45 am the family had left to the venue by locking their house. By 3 pm when they returned home, they found that the house was left in a helter-skelter state with cupboards of the house opened.

While inspecting the house, they realised that thieves had broken open the window grills and gained entry into the house.

A case has been registered.
