Mangalore: Ninety Scouts & Guides witness Paddy Cultivation at Pilikula

Mangalore, 13 Jul 2014: The city unit of Bharat Scouts and Guides organized field visit to paddy cultivation for high school students of different schools at Bakimar field that lies in front of Guttinamane, at heritage village, Dr Shivaram Karant Pilikula Nisargadhama, here on Saturday July 12. It was organized as the monsoon picked up momentum since a few weeks in coastal district.
Ninety scouts and guides of Ramakrishna High School – Harekala, Vidhyaratna High School – Deralakatte, Nityadar High School – Babbukatte participated in the field study.
Pilikula Nisargadhama CEO S A Prabhakar offered motion for the programme by planting sapling of paddy at the field.
Dakshina Kannada Bharat Scouts and Guides commissioner N G Mohan explained the method of planting the saplings.
The plantations supervisor Jayaram demonstrated the different grafting methods on the plants of mangoes and other fruit.
The students enthusiastically participated in the programme.
Bharat Scouts and Guides director Dr K V Rao, principal scientist Dr H S Shenoy, PRO Bhaskar, other officers were present on the occasion.
The scouts master Tyagam Harekala taken the charge of students.
