Karkal: SCDCC Bank opens 75th Branch at Belman

Karkal, Mar 8, 2014 : If the banks open branches in every villages and offer banking facilities to the rural customers; the nation would achieve faster growth. South Canara District Central Co-operative (SCDCC) Bank will be celebrating centenary in 2017, while for the first time in the country, SCDCC Bank has the goal of distributing membership of Primary Co-operative Bank to 75,000 farmers and ‘Roopa’ credit card to women members of Navodaya self-help groups, said SCDCC Bank chairman M N Rajendra Kumar.
Rajendra Kumar was speaking after inaugurating 28th branch of SCDCC Bank at Sri Krishna Complex, Belman, near here on Friday March 7.
‘The newly-opened branch has deposits to the tune of Rs 7.5 crore and can lend loans upto Rs 75 crore,’ said Rajendra Kumar. He acknowledged the support of local customers for depositing bigger sums in the newly-opened branch. He further said that common folks can open accounts with SCDCC Bank as it’s not strict on Aadhaar Card to maintain as identity proof. One need not go pillar to post for loans. The cash tellers dispense cash and deposits throughout the working day. SCDCC Bank aims to offer banking services other than nationalized banks with the view of bringing about social reforms and equality in the society. SCDCC Bank has the target of reaching 100 branches at the earliest, said Rajendra Kumar.
Belman – St Joseph’s parish priest Fr Lawrence B D’Souza inaugurated the computerized banking facilities.
Astrologer Vidwan Vedamurti B Vasudev Tantri inaugurated the strong room.
Belman - Sri Krishna Group proprietor S K Salian, Belman Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Bank chairman Devendra Nayak, managing director M Gopalakrishna Bhat, directors M Vadiraja Shetty, Bhaskar S Kotian, Hebri – SVS Bank chairman Karunakar Shetty, Hermunde Bhavani Shankar Nayak, Varangada Ravi Poojary, Innanje Rajesh, Karkal Land Development Bank chairman Ashok Kumar Jain were present on the occasion.
The new branch manager Jagdish Shetty and assistant officer Damodar felicitated the landlord S K Salian couple.
The files were handed over to the heads of newly-opened self-help-groups: Dattaguru, Kripa, Adimaye, Chiguru, Srusti, Gayatri, Swati and Navodaya.
The self-help-groups overseer Narayan, Harinat, zonal overseer Jayant, self-help-groups key personnel Raghavendra, Mohini Bola, Yashoda, Sujata, Amita, Sudhakar, Prashant and Mohini Miyar were honored during the programme.
SCDCC Bank director Bhaskar S Kotian welcomed the gathering. The managing director M Gopalakrishna Bhat proposed vote of thanks. Sanoor Mohandas Prabhu compered the programme.
A large number of farmers and women members of Navodaya self-help-groups were present on the occasion.
The new branch manager Jagdish Shetty said that the newly-opened branch has single window counter, core banking services, RTGS/NEFT facilities.
