Car falls 20 feet deep catches fire, but the driver is safe

Udupi, 28 Feb 2014: In an attempt to avoid hitting a bike, the driver of Tata Indica car lost control on the highway near Manipura-Dendoor-Kalmanje Bridge and the vehicle plunged 20 feet deep and caught fire with the impact of the fall. The accident occurred in the early morning of Friday, 28 February 2014 at around 3 am. However, the driver of the car miraculously escaped with life in spite of the vehicle being charred.
Prasad, from Alevooru who had been to his friends house at Hejmadi was driving the car back to his house when the accident took place. By taking quick decision, Prasad in a fraction of a second jumped out of the car which caught fire soon after. Prasad was lucky to escape sudden death due to the unfortunate mishap. Hearing about the incident, the local people came to the help of Prasad.
The vehicle was prevented from being plunged into the river by a coconut tree as it got stuck there. As the car has completely gutted in fire, the loss is estimated at Rs.6 lakhs. The Kaup police are investigating the accident.
