Civil Judge Nagajyoti emphasis on Women Empowerment Act

Udupi, Feb 19, 2014 : The women are active in every sphere of the society. It made her vulnerable to sexual abuse both in and out of her house. In order to curb such atrocities on women, several laws are enacted. If the women make an effort to know such laws, she would be empowered to protect herself, said Udupi district principal senior civil judge Nagajyoti K A.
Nagajyoti was speaking after inaugurating legal awareness programme that was held at St Mary’s College, Shirva, near here on Monday February 17. It was organized by St Mary’s College in association with Udupi Bar Association.
Nagajyoti released a book, ‘E-governance in Karnataka,’ authored by Dr Padmanabha Bhat on the same occasion.
Udupi Bar Association secretary Devaraj Shettigar was the chief guest of the occasion.
The city lawyer Sunil Mathew was the key resource person, offered information on anti-women atrocities at work place Act - 2013.
St Mary’s College - principal Professor Rajan V N, in his presidential address, stressed on the need to be educated on key laws in the country.
Sujanya Acharya rendered the prayers. The head of department of political science Dr S Padmanabha Bhat welcomed the gathering. Professor Gopalakrishna Samaga proposed vote of thanks. Dr Radhakrishna Bhat compered the programme.
