Udupi, 13 Feb 2014: The concreting of Padubelle – Pamboorbailu Road is under way with the funds granted by zilla panchayat member Ida Gilbert D’Souza.

Belle gram panchayat president Rajendra Shetty, members A G D’Souza and Harish Shetty, Belle Congress ward Committee president James Sequeira, locals Prasanna Kumar D’Souza, Ronald Sequeira and village elders were present on the occasion.

15 wasted pictures! They say one picture is worth 1000 words. What did these 15 pictures tell us? I got the message that the dog got bored and walked out of the function...:D The report is meant to inform not only those familiar with the locality but a wider regional and national audience . Nobody gives a damn about our faces in dozen poses. The report should include the route, length, width, specifications, project schedule and cost, name of contractor, name of supervising agency and engineer in the PWD, and so on. It could include views expressed by onlookers . Of 3 comments, 2 welcome the development. 1 expresses opposition. This is a good sign that at ward level, people are participating in development process. What AAP and AK advocates is precisely this. When Ida arranges some government funds, what are priority projects in that ward or group of wards? The Mohalla Sabha should decide. In other words, a wards meeting should be convened to take decisions. The ward committee should function to ensure that contractor lays a road which will last a hundred years. May AAP arrive at ward and panchayat level is what I pray.
