M’lore: DC Ibrahim instructs Govt Officials to make early preparations for election

Mangalore, 12 Feb 2014: Dakshina Kannada (DK) district Deputy Commissioner (DC) and district electioneering officer A B Ibrahim instructed district government officials to get themselves ready for the smooth functioning of forthcoming parliamentary elections at the earliest.

 
Addressing the government officials during the preliminary meeting held at district headquarter, here on Tuesday February 11 on forthcoming general elections, DC Ibrahim advised the officials to be diligent on maintaining updated voters list, especially take early actions on inclusion of new voters and attend to grievances of other voters, to keep in continuous touch with concerned officials in electioneering process in every legislative assembly constituencies, and to make all the necessary arrangements efficiently, advised DC Ibrahim.

 

 
DC Ibrahim also advised the police force and electioneering officials to co-ordinate on security arrangements ahead of general elections, to appoint sector officers and penal officers, checking staff, video crew, poll observers and surveillance staff at the earliest.

 
The security has to be intensified at check-posts located in inter-state boundaries, and across district by setting up around-the-clock control rooms, to swiftly respond to the complaints of general public, said DC Ibrahim.

 
DC Ibrahim stressed on the need to strengthen accounting team to keep tab on the expenditures of election candidates.  The banking officers and central income tax officials will be assigned in this regard.  Almost all polling centers across DK parliamentary constituency were inspected and reviewed the basic facilities available at those locations. The polling centers were shifted to secured classrooms with the view of security threat owing to poorly maintained classrooms, added DC Ibrahim.

Mangalore sub-division officer Dr Prashant, Puttur sub-division officer Krishnamurti, DCP Jagdish, ASP Shivakumar, Tahsildars of all taluks of DK district, the election officers of different legislative assembly constituencies were present on the occasion.
