Pulse-Polio Drive under way at aegis of Rotary Club

Kundapur, Jan 20, 2014 : B Appanna Hegde, managing trustee of Mahalingeshwar temple, Basroor and social activist inaugurated the pulse-polio drive at primary health center (PHC), Basroor, near here on Sunday January 19 at 7.30am. It was jointly organized by Rotary Club – Kundapur and taluk health department.
Rotary Club – Kundapur president Shiriyara Gopalakrishna Shetty presided the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Shetty said that he was fortunate to be president that during his term the nation was announced as polio-free country. Rotary Club has strived in this regard in the past 19 years, said Shetty. He also acknowledged the efforts of health assistants and general public in achieving the milestone in healthcare.
Rotary zone - pulse polio co-ordinator and speaker Dr S Rajeev Shetty explained the challenges in administering pulse-polio since the drive begun.
Zone – 1 assistant governor T K M Bhat, ZP member Prakash Mendon, TP member Poornima Poojary, gram panchayat president Sumati Mendon, pediatrician Dr B Rajendra Shetty and others also spoke on the occasion.
Rotary Club – Kundapur secretary H S Hatwar rendered the prayers. Muttayya Shetty welcomed the gathering. P P Kodlady Subaschandra Shetty proposed vote of thanks.
The health assistants, PHC medical officers, Rotary members A Sasidar Hegde, Srikrishna Karant, Prakaschandra Shetty Chittoor, Manoj Nair, Sridar Achar, volunteers and others were involved in pulse-polio programme.
