Udupi: Valedictory of Yakshagiri: 3-Day Badagutittu Yakshagana Competition Held

Udupi, 14 Dec 12013: It’s natural that any art that is subjected to more and more experiments likely to get a new perspective. It should not in any way distort its original form. The changes ought to be within its original form, said renowned Yakshagana artiste and medical practitioner Dr Bhaskaranand Kumar.
Dr Bhaskaranand was speaking during valedictory function of three-day Badagutittu style Yakshagana competition that was held at new Ravindra Kala Mantap of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) College, here on Friday December 13.
Professor Hiranje Krishna Bhat in his presidential address said that Yakshagana competitions are indeed helpful for the new generation to take interest in Yakshagana.
MGM College principal Professor Ha La Nayak, the jurors Professor Ambatanaya Mudrady, Dr Ganapati Bhat and K Ajit Kumar were present at the dais.
Dr Yogish Kairody welcomed the gaqthering. Sadashiv Shettigar read the names of winners of competitions.
Poornaprajna College, Udupi bagged the first prize of Rs 20,000 and Milagres College – Kallianpur bagged the second prize of Rs 15,000 in the Badagutittu style of Yakshagana competitions that was organized as part of Alvas Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat – 2013. Dr A V Baliga Institute of Social Science and Rural Management College – Harady bagged the third prize of Rs 10,000. Each winner were also presented with trophy and a citation letter.
