Udupi: 19-yr-old rapes minor stepsister

Udupi, 30 Nov 2013: In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old boy allegedly sexually assaulted his stepsister in Indiranagar, near Kukkikatte, Udupi. The Udupi town police arrested the accused on Friday following a complaint by the victim’s mother.

 

Police said that Sunil, a painter, assaulted his 13-year old minor stepsister Soumya (name changed) on November 11 when her mother, Baby, had gone out to fetch water from an open well. When she returned she found her daughter weeping. The victim was again raped by Sunil on November 18. This time she told her mother of the incident.

 

On Thursday, the incident led to a war of words between Baby and the accused who dared her to file a police complaint. Sunil was produced to the district and sessions court on Friday evening and the court remanded him to judicial custody till December 12. He has been lodged in Hiriyadka police station.
