Udupi: Belle Church Choir celebrates feast of St. Cecilia-Patroness of Musicians

Udupi/M’belle, 20 Nov 2013: The Choir of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle celebrated the feast of St. Cecilia, the patron saint of  Musicians on Wednesday, 20 November 2013 in the parish hall at 4 pm.  The actual feast of St. Cecilia is on 22 November.

 
The brief function was presided over by Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, parish priest. Other guests of honour included Fr. Paul Sequeira-Director of the Church Choir,  Fr. Robert Lasrado )OFM Cap)-Director  of Assisi Nilaya, Fr. Raj, Sr. Irene, Alphonse K. Alva and Mrs. Jacinta D’Souza, Vice President and Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council respectively.

 
In their brief messages, Fr. Paul Sequeira and Fr. Joswey fernandes appreciated the contribution of the Church Choir in animating the Masses on weekdays, Sundays and feast days in a meaningful manner. Fr. Paul Said that a lot of practice goes into the preparation of hymns for the liturgical services. Fr. Joswey Fernandes said that the choir has been the focal point of the liturgical service and the choir should help the faithful in collectively singing the hymns. Singing hymns  is the best form of worship to God.

 

 
Mrs. Matilda Quadras, the former President of the Church Choir was felicitated by Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes by offering her flower and thanked her for her contribution to the choir.

 
Jessica Mendonca comppered the programme; Robert D’Souza, present President of the Choir welcomed the guests , Charles Quadras conducted few games and Joy Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
