Udupi, 10 Nov 2013: Cow is sacred deserves the respect of a mother. It’s the duty of everyone to conserve cattle. If everyone joins in this mission, not only a few but many cow-shelters can be opened, said Swami Vishwaprasanna of Pejavar mutt.
Swami Vishwaprasanna was speaking after accepting the contribution of Durga temple, Kunjarugiri, near here on Saturday November 9.
Swami Vishwapriya of Adamar mutt who handed over the contribution said that the elders have given greater sacredness to waste of cattle. If the cattle that has given their best in their lifetime should be rescued from the abattoirs. It would bring the blessings on elderly who will be taken care of by their children. If everyone is not able to support the cause, they can at least help by contributing their mite in this regard which will motivate others too, said Swami Vishwapriya.
A sum of Rs 1,80,250 that is equivalent of 1 percent of total income of Kunjarugiri temple was donated on the occasion.
The senior teacher Vasant Shetty delivered the introductory address. Divan Venkataramana Mucchintaya welcomed the gathering. The temple manager Rajendra Bhat proposed vote of thanks. The temple priest Raghavendra Bhat compered the programme.
