Mangalore, Oct 31, 2013 : M Jayananda Devadiga-Secretary of the DK and Udupi Backward Classes Union (BCU) addressed the media personnel during the press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, on topics pertaining to Sowjanya Murder Case, and also about the recent allegations made against Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade and the Dharmastala Kshetra. Other association board members namely Naveenchandra Suvarna, Vasudeva Boloor, and Purshotham Kottari were also present. Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Backward Classes Union (BCU) is a new organization comprising of 28 members belonging to various religions.
Devadiga said, " We express our deepest sympathies to Sowjanya’s family. Sowjanya as the name itself shows that the 17 year old when she met the tragic death was truly a precious girl. Such a precious girl should not have met such a death in the hands of killers. We are with the family and we will extend full support in this case, so that justice could be served at the earliest"
Further Devadiga said, " To damage a person’s good name, reputation, character of by slander or libel is not a good thing. I am referring to Dr Veerendra Heggade, whose name and also Dharmastala Kshetra’ s name has been defamed by persons/organization in connection with Sowjanya’s murder. It is “not proper” to make allegations against Dr Heggade, because Heggade had been engaged in social service for decades and it was “improper” to defame him. We should look into why a section of people is making the allegations. Our association strongly condemn such allegations made against Kshetra and Dr Heggade"
In conclusion, Devadiga said, " Chief Minister, Home minister and other elected ministers from our district should decide to hand over the case to CBI, so that further investigations could speed up and justice could be served . Until the CID or CBI comes to an conclusion on this year long murder case, I strongly urge the persons/organizations to stop unnecessary agitations and also stop blaming a innocent person and a religious Kshetra"
