Udupi: State Bank of Mysore – Shirva remembers Founder Sir M Vishveshwarayya

Udupi, 4 Oct 2013 : State Bank of Mysore (SBM), Shirva branch organized inter-collegiate elocution, public speaking and quiz competitions, at Mulky Sundar Ram Shetty College, Shirva, near here on Thursday October 3. SBM organized these competitions at the sideline of beginning of its centenary year and as memorial of Bank founder Sir M Vishveshwarayya.
Tenkanidiyoor Government First Grade College principal Professor Suresh Rai presided the stage programme held on Thursday afternoon.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Suresh said that Sir Vishveshwarayya had been criticized as anti social justice and anti-Dalit. However, in fact, he was generous in allotting hostels and scholarship to Dalit students. He had resigned to show his integrity and commitment to merit by opposing his clear stand on the reservations, said Professor Suresh.
SBM, Mangalore zonal deputy manager M R Jayesh in his chief guest’s address explained the achievements of SBM founded by Sir M Vishveshwarayya over the century.
Mulky Sundar Ram Shetty College correspondent V Subbayya Shetty lauded SBM for remembering its founder Sir Vishveshwarayya even after a century.
The programme convener Professor Murugesh delivered the introductory address. Professor K Subramanya Bhat welcomed the gathering. SBM – Shirva manager Valerian Aranha proposed vote of thanks. B A final year student Ranjita compered the programme.
