Hassan : MLC Patel Shivaram urges Govt to Provide Milk to Students for 6 Days instead of 3

Hassan, Aug 2 : If the children are given milk in the mornings, its nourishing and enhances their energy, said the local MLA H S Prakash.
MLA Prakash was speaking after presiding the free milk distribution to students of schools and Anganawady under Akshara Dasoha programme that was organized jointly by the district administration, ZP, public instruction department, women and child welfare department, here on Thursday August 1.
MLA Prakash advised the school authorities to grow vegetables in the vacant plot around the school premises, which would provide enough vegetables to prepare curry for mid-day meals. He also urged the people to allow the girls to study at state-run schools that are facing shortage of students.
MLC Patel Shivaram after inaugurating the programme, urged the state authorities to provide free milk to students for 6 days of week rather than 3 days. He also advised to be extra careful in preparing mid-day meals and also milk, at the backdrop of tragedies reported in schools across the nation.
Speaking on the occasion, zilla panchayat CEO Upendra Pratap Singh said that the state administration has introduced free milk distribution to both government and aided schools for the students studying in Class I to Class X. Accordingly, a total of 3,034 schools will be provided with 18 grams each of full cream milk powder that 150 grams of liquid milk for each student. A total of 1,70,765 students district-wide both government and aided school will benefit from this facility. Meanwhile, under district child welfare project, the women and child welfare department will provided 150 millimeter of milk for 3 days to 94,515 children between the ages of 6 months to 6 years at Anganawady Centers, said Upendra Pratap Singh.
The public instructions department deputy director G R Basavaraj, ZP vice president Bilichoudayya, gram panchayat members Rangaswamy and Karle Indresh, education department officers Basavaraj and Puttered, others were present on the occasion.
The students rendered the prayers. The women and child development department officer Chidanand welcomed the gathering.
