M’lore: Drinking Water Woes makes Furore in Council Meeting of Pavoor Village

Mangalore, 27 Jun 2013: The residents of Pavoor village, near here, expressed their anguish over misappropriations in laying the pipeline from the village’s open well, owing to which the entire village is facing dearth of drinking water since the past 1 month.
The villagers raised this burning issue during the council meeting of Pavoor village, near here, which was held at mini Ambedkar Bhavan, Kamblapadav, near Pavoor, here on Wednesday June 26.
The villagers alleged that despite an open well was dug up on the shore of Netravati River, at Inoli, near here and pipeline laid at a cost of Rs 19.50 lac about 7 years ago, in order to solve the drinking water woes; it was of no use to the villagers. In spite of further Rs 5 lac were utilized on the pipeline works, no improvement in easing the drinking water woes, alleged the villagers.
The villagers demanded assurances from nodal officer to solve their drinking water woes at the earliest, if not they threatened the council that they would lock the office of village council.
