Kundapur: Sleuths Nab Woman Cheater, Collecting Huge Money in Guise of SHG

Kundapur, 25 Feb 2013: The sleuths nabbed a woman who was accused of cheating poor women in the guise of running Nandikeshwar Self-Help-Group (SHG) by forging passbooks of SCDCC Bank here on Friday February 22.
The sleuths led by crime sub-inspector Revati nabbed Babi Shedty, wife of Sudhakar Shetty, residing at Korgi - Dodderi, near here on Friday.
She floated Nandikeshwar SHG and lured poor women residing in villages of Hombadi, Mandadi, Heskoor, Dodderi and other villages to become members. Once she earned the trust of innocent women, she printed duplicate passbooks of SCDCC Bank and collected initial deposits of Rs 5,000 from each member. She also collected Rs 100 per month from each member for over 2 years and the term will be over by 3 years.
Meanwhile, the cheating was unraveled when one of the women enquired in the branch of SCDCC Bank that she has neither an account nor money in the branch.
Babi Shedty’s son studying in Class VII and daughter studying in I PUC were aghast to know criminal side of their mother.
