Apostolic Carmelite Sr Marisa Celebrates Golden Jubilee of Religious Service

Kundapur, 12 Jan 2013: Apostolic Carmelite nun Sr Marisa celebrated her golden jubilee of religious life, here on Monday January 7.
Kundapur deanery vicar Fr Anil D’Souza concelebrated the Thanksgiving Mass, along with Sr Marisa’s nephew Fr Peter, Fr Alphonse D’Lima and other clergies at St Joseph’s Convent chapel, here on Monday morning.
Fr Anil D’Souza presided the stage programme held after the Holy Mass at the Convent hall.
Apostolic Carmel provincial general Sr Lynette, St Joseph’s Convent superior Vigha, Sr Marisa’s sister Dotty D’Souza and Fr Peter were the guests of honour.
Fr Anil D’Souza offered a bouquet to Sr Marisa on behalf of Our Lady of Rosary parish, Kundapur.
Sr Lynette offered a bouquet to Sr Marisa on behalf of Apostolate Carmelite nuns and Dotty offered the same on behalf of Sr Marisa’s family.
The orphanage children staged a welcome dance, Kundapur parish choir and nuns sang the sang congratulating Sr Marisa on completing 50 years in religious service.
Speaking at the occasion, Fr Anil said that it’s a milestone in the religious life of Sr Marisa. Her sacrifices and passion for Crucified Jesus will have eternal rewards, said Fr Anil.
Fr Peter said that he followed the divine call to join the seminary, because of Sr Marisa who taught him to pray in his childhood.
Sr Pricilda introduced Sr Marisa at the occasion. Sr Evelyn Marie recited a poetry in honour of Sr Marisa.
Sr Marisa hails from Urwa parish of Mangalore diocese. She served as head teacher of high schools in Bangalore, Mangalore, Odisha, Kundapur, Kemman and Gangolli for nearly 24 years, besides served as superior of convents for 20 years.
Sr Marisa is now retired and lives in Kundapur, after serving 14 years here itself.
Sr Marisa thanked all those who worked towards organizing the golden jubilee celebrations and all the nuns for their co-operation.
Sr Sunita compered the programme and Sr Sangeeta proposed vote of thanks.
