Udupi: Efforts Underway to Provide NABARD Loans to Navodaya SHGs Members

Udupi, 05 Dec 2012: Navodaya Self-Help-Groups (SHG’s) have been distributing loans that are advanced by NABARD at interest rate of 4 percent. Meanwhile, the SHG beneficiaries are urging to provide loans at interest rate of 1 percent. The earnest efforts are underway in this regard, said M N Rajendra Kumar, managing trustee of Navodaya Gram Vikas Charitable Trust.
Rajendra Kumar was speaking at the distribution programme of saris to members of Navodaya SHGs, which was held at Town Hall here recently.
‘The women had to be empowered with jobs as it’s the need of changed times as that of men since contemporary times. The women are capable of self employment, while the members of Navodaya SHGs have proven their capabilities in efficiently managing their small scale enterprises,’ said Rajendra Kumar.
Fr William Martis, parish priest Our Lady of Rosary parish, here after distributing the uniforms said that women has been adored since ancient times. The politicians call them mother in their speeches, while in reality women have not got their due respect. The women has to strive to earn their respect uniting through SHGs in this regard, said Fr Martis.
SHG beneficiaries Sundari Kappettu and Reshma Hamza shared their experiences of entrepreneurial skills.
The entrepreneur Suresh Shetty, ZP member Mallika Ashok, co-operative societies leaders Jayakar ShettyIndrali, Ramesh Shetty, Jaya Kumar Parkala, Sudhir Hegde, Shivaji Suvarna, Sudarshan Jain, Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, Raghav Shetty and others were present at the occasion.
