Scientific Rice Growing Information to Farmers

Shirva, 19 July 2012: Even though there is enough scientific research and methods for the growing of the rice, the farmers are hesitating to use it. It is about 10 years now since the rice ‘transplantor’ came to market, but in the coastal areas it is not being used. The scientific agriculture in the coastal areas is very much essential, said Agricultural Director Krishna Swamy Rao.
He was speaking in Innanje near Shirva, while young agriculturalist Sudhakara Shetty Mudumbu initiated to cultivate rice saplings using transplantor machine in the fields of his land on Tuesday. Speaking further Krishna Swamy Rao said that, this machine costs rupees 1.80 lakh and the government will give rupees 80 thousands subsidy, he said.
The program was jointly organized by Jilla Panchayath, Agricultural Department Udupi, Atma Anustana Samiti, Udupi Taluk Sri Kshethra Dharmastala Grameenabhivradhi Yojane. Farmers communication centre Kaup Officer K. Thimmappa Gowda, Atma Yojane Officer Sanjana, Sarita of Bhoochetana program and Raghavendra Nayak were present on the occasion.
