Coastal Security Marine Academy in Udupi

Malpe, 02 July 2012: Coastal Security Marine Academy which trains the country’s Coastal Security Police of 9 coastal states, will be established at the coast of Ottinene in Udupi District said state Police Chief Commissioner Lal Rukum Pachao. He was speaking to the news reporters while he arrived to Malpe on Friday. In order to establish this academy in Ottinene about 100 acre of land will be required and the proposal for the same has been submitted to the central government, he said.
Speaking further he said that the State Coastal Security Police Department’s Head Office will be established in Malpe Port. Currently in the coast of Karnataka there are 5 Coastal Security Police Stations. In the coastal security point of view this is not enough, therefore additional 4 stations are allotted and very soon these 4 stations will start functioning, he said.
The boat jetty construction work in Malpe of Udupi district and Thadadi of Uttara Kannada district are in progress. Proposal for 7 more jetties have been submitted and approval for the same is expected. Speed boats of 12 ton capacity have been provided for Hejamadi, Gangolli, Belikeri and Honnavara Coastal Security Police Stations and recruitment of 220 Police Staff is in progress, he said.
