Udupi: Pouring rain gets milder in district on Tuesday

Udupi, 20 June 2012: The rain which has been pouring since the last two days in Udupi district got milder on Tuesday. In the district until Tuesday in the last 24 hours average 78.20 mm rain has come, out of which 75.80 mm rain in Udupi Taluk, 83.60 mm rain in Kundapura Taluk and 65.20 mm rain in Karkala Taluk has been recorded.
With the continuous rain, sea erosion has occurred in Kodi sea shore of Kundapura Taluk. Here the sea has come above its limit in the length of about 75 meters of shore and the waves are splashing to shore. As a result of this huge amount of sand and soil is getting into the sea. But so far there is no damages to houses and farms taken place in the sea shore.
The rain has caused damage to the house roof of Krashni Shetty a resident of Kappettu, Kidoor Grama of Udupi Taluk, causing a damage of approximately Rs. 30,000. In Kundapura Taluk the rain water has got into the house of Sharada a Dalit woman of Mudupopadi making it difficult to live in the house. On Tuesday local Bijadi Grama Panchayath Member Ravindra Dodmane and Village Accountant Jagadish have visited the place.
