Shirva, 12 May 2012: The saying ‘in the fight of husband and wife the child suffers’ exactly applies to Pilarkan – Kunjugudde – Mudarangadi roads which has never seen repair for decades. In this road the traffic which includes lorries, tempos, rickshaws and private vehicles the condition is very bad. Rickshaws are not willing to come to this road and if persuaded then they will ask for double the charges!
But for more than 400 families this is the only road available. In Kujugudde for many of the families belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes and also to the labourers in this areas this is the only main road. This is the main road in Pilar Grama, Mudarangadi Panchayath, but due to politics the public has to suffer. The children will have to carry the government distributed cycles along with their books. The elderly and the sick cannot go to hospital in emergency.
But it has become common for the people’s representatives and politicians to blame each other and wasting the time. With the movements of heavy vehicles of Nagarjuna project about 5 km length of road is full of potholes. When the Nagarjuna Company came forward to repair the road Panchayath did not give permission. The government has completely ignored this area, said Mudarangad’s former Grama Panchayath President David.
The residents of this area are making just one request to the people’s representatives, that is the repair of this road. Very soon the schools will reopen, the rainy season is approaching. Where are the representatives who knock the doors during election campaign pleading for the votes with huge assurances? questions an elderly woman of 80 years age!
The boys who deliver the news papers and milk are not coming in time these days. If the road is not repaired now the rainy season is going to be pathetic, says the local Fredrick Castelino. Among the basic need of common man, the road and clean drinking water are most important ones. The people’s representatives need give up their differences and come forward to respond to the needs of the people here.
