Udupi, 07 May 2012: The opposition from some Chief Ministers against the establishment of Central Government’s National Counter Terrorism Centre is only political and there are no genuine reasons for it, said Central Corporate Affairs Minister M. Veerappa Moily. Speaking to the press reporters on Sunday in Udupi District Congress Office, he said that, the establishment of NCTC to curb the terrorism in the country is very much essential. Therefore the Prime Minister and Central Home Minister are trying to convince the Chief Ministers who are opposing this, he said.
Curbing the terrorism has been the question of National Security and for that the present laws are not sufficient. These laws decide on punishing the terrorists after catching them. The before the terrorism comes into existence it has to be eliminated, means special laws are required. The central government cannot just wait and watch after passing in the intelligence information to the states. Immediate actions are necessary. For this reason the central government wants to establish NCTC. The state governments opposing this for political reason is not right, he said.
