Manipal: New Building and Hostel for Government Polytechnic

Manipal, 14 February 2012: In our country, Karnataka state has given the most priority for education and also provided the basic facilities. That is why the Software Engineers from our state have demand worldwide, said State Rural Development Minister C.M. Udasi. He was speaking upon laying the foundation stone for the new building of Government Polytechnic with an estimated cost of rupees 8 crores, on Sunday. 21st century is the century of India, the youth need to get ready for it, and hence the quality education should be given to them. For this purpose the BJP state government is giving the priority which no other government had given before, he said.
On this occasion District In Charge Minister Dr. V.S. Acharya inaugurated the Girls Hostel built with a cost of rupees 1 crore for the students of Polytechnic. Upon inauguration he spoke and said that, in the job market there is huge demand for the Polytechnic Diploma holders. In order to make use of this opportunity, in the last 3 years the permission has been given for the 43 new polytechnics in the state. Before this, during the previous 60 years only 38 government Polytechnics were built, he said.
In the state during the earlier 60 years 159 colleges were built, to this another 180 colleges have been added in the last 3 years. In the budget rupees 550 crores have been allotted for the education. In the state the higher education field is growing rapidly and is drawing the attention of the nation, said Dr. Acharya.
The program was presided over by Udupi MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat and Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon was the guest. Deputy Commissioner Dr. M.T. Reju, Technical Education Department Director H.U. Talavar, Technical Assistant C.D. Ramalingayya, Registrar Laxmeesha Bhatkal, Lokopayogi Department Engineer S.K. Chandrashekar, Nirmiti Centre Project Director Arun Kumar and Polytechnic Principal H. Renukaprasad were present on the dias.
