Manipal: Voters Day Celebrated at District Complex

Manipal, 31 January 2012: With the 61st amendment of the constitution changing the minimum specified age for voting as 18, now the right to elect the people’s representative is in the hands of the young generation and among the current population of 70 crore voters, 30% are youngsters, said District Judge S.L. Patil. He was speaking upon inaugurating the National Voters Daay on Wednesday.
The young generation must vote without buckling to any desire and pressure and must vote without fail and maintain the sacred vote. The program was presided over by Deputy commissioner Dr. M.T. Reju. The Chief Guests present include; District SP Dr. Ravikumar and Jilla Panchayath Administrative Officer S.M. Prabhakara Sharma.
Additional Deputy Commissioner S. Kumar in his introductory note welcomed the guests and the gathering. Udupi Tashildar Prasanna proposed vote of thanks. On this occasion prizes were distributed to the winners of the various competitions held.
