Udupi, 24 November 2011: Udupi district Nalke Community Association has appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to ban the “E Nalke Daye” Tulu drama which will be played by the Udyavara Billava Community Seva Sangha Artists, in the drama competition to be held on Friday 25th November 2011, organized by Pervaje Billava Samaja Seva Sangha of Karkala Taluk.
In the appeal they have mentioned that, the story of the drama is insulting and there are scenes of insulting the Nalke community and disgracing women of Nalke community. In Tulunadu the Deities are worshiped and in this drama there are scenes which promote disbelief on those Deities, so this drama has to be banned, they appealed.
In 2008 a scene of a drama organized by Mumbai Bunt Sangha was published in a movie magazine. In this scene a character by name Cheenkra Poojary sweeps in front of the houses of owners. Hurt with this scene the Billava Sangha opposed the drama program. If the Billava community are hurt with such a small issue, the how much the Nalke community will be hurt while the whole drama is insulting to their community, which should be thought by the drama directors, it is mentioned in the appeal.
10 years ago when the same drama was performed we had opposed it and the drama was stopped and also the drama creator Vijayakumar Shetty Thosne had cooperated to stop the drama. Therefore the ban is to be issued on this drama so that in the future also no one should play this drama, it is urged in the appeal.
