Udupi: Lightening damages 5 houses in Udupi and Kundapura

Udupi, 05 November 2011: The sudden lightening which appeared in the evening at 4.00 pm on Friday and also on previous days, 5 houses are damaged in Udupi and Kundapura Taluks. One cow is dead, one young woman is seriously injured and total 1.20 lakh rupees damage is estimated. In Haluvalli Grama of Udupi Taluk the house of Madu Nayak is hit by the lightening at 4.00 pm on Friday and the electric connection is burnt. The cow in the cow shed died as the lightening hit. Village accountant has estimated a total loss of rupees 20 thousands.
In Neerujeddu of Heggunje Grama the house of Belku Handa was hit by the lightening at 3.00 pm on Friday and the electric connection is burnt. His daughter Jayanthi is seriously injured from the lightening. Total rupees 20 thousands loss has been estimated.
On Thursday night the lightening hit the house of Anantha Padmanabha Acharya in Banabettu of Havanje Grama. All of them were in deep sleep at that time. The walls have cracked from the impact of the lightening and also the electric connection is burnt. Also, here the total loss has been estimated to rupees 20 thousands.
In Kundapura Taluk on Wednesday night the lightening hit the house of Girida Mogera a resident of Japti and the walls have cracked. The total loss has been estimated as rupees 50 thousands. In Molahalli Grama the wall of the house of Paddu Kulal has collapsed due to heavy wind and rain and rupees 10 thousands loss has been estimated.
