Shirva: Seminar at St. Mary’s College on Anna Hazare’s fight

Udupi, 28 August 2011: Seminar was held in St. Mary’s College on the fight of Anna Hazare, which was organized by the Students Union. Coordinator of the seminar N. Bhavani Shankar spoke and said that Anna Hazare who has a clean image, has been the focal point of this movement and the public community are filled with fury against the corruption. Dr. Padmanabha Bhat explained the way the lokpal bill is being discarded due to the lack of interest by the politicians.
Prof. Subrahmanya recalled the movements of Gandhi, JP and Anna Hazare. Prof. Vincent D’Souza briefing on the depth of the corruption which is rooted at the moment and highlighted that it is inevitable that the students and the teachers have to continue with their work, while they conduct their protest. Prof. Saritha D’Souza said that it is more important for the citizens to have responsibility, attitude to question the corruption and honesty, than the political situation.
The resource persons answered the curious questions of the students who wore Ghandi caps. Principal Dr. Clarence Miranda appreciated the teachers and the students for demonstrating their social responsibility. Second BA student Ashwin Lawrence Carnelio compeered the program.
