Udupi: Gold snatched from woman’s bag in broad day light
On Wednesday gold jewelry is robbed from a woman’s bag in broad day light at Badagupete Udupi. Vathsala Rao (72) a resident of Kunjibettu purchased 20 grams gold chain at Irody Jewelry and along with cash Rs. 4,500 kept in her vanity bag and was going by walk to Kalsanka Silk Palace to buy sari at about 12.00 noon.
At that time a woman from behind forcibly pushed her shoulder and went ahead. Later when Vathsala Rao went to Kalsanka Silk Palace and saw that the zip of her vanity bag was open. Frightened, she saw the vanity bag and found that the cash and gold jewelry is robbed. The total value of the stolen gold and cash is approximately Rs. 88,500. The case is registered in Udupi city Police Station as per the complaint given by Vathsala Rao.
Kundapura: Cheating of lakhs of rupees with assurances of getting land
A case of cheating of lakhs of rupees has taken place with a assurance of getting land in Shivamoga. Person who got cheated is Suma Putran (37) of Hangaluru Grama, who is the President of Inner Wheel Club for the year 2010 – 11. Vishvanatha P. also a member of Inner Wheel Club a resident of Siddeshwara cross, Shivamoga, convinced Suma of getting a good house and land and took Rs. 1,75,000 from her on 15 March.
Again on 31 March he took total Rs. 27,40,000 from her which includes Rs. 24,64,000 worth gold jewelry. But he did not get the house or land and even not returned back the money and the gold jewelry, complained Suma Putran in the Kundapura court and as per the instructions of the court, the case has been registered at the Kundapura Police Station.
Byndur: Illigal transportation of animals, 4 arrested.
In two separate cases of illegal animal transportation, 4 people are arrested by Baindur Police. As per the confirmed information received by them, Baindur Police Inspector Savitheja and team conducted the raids.
Karny Hanief (36) a resident of Koteshwara Grama and Mohamed Munir (28) of Kalvar Grama of Surathkal were transporting animals in Bolero in the morning at 04.00 am from Shiroor to Baindur and the police raided at that time and arrested the accused. The 10 animals which were in the vehicle with the legs tied were taken into custody.
In another incident Mohamed Gazali (29) and Mohamed Arif, both residents of Venkatapura of Batkal were transporting the animals in Tata Sumo from Baindur to Bhatkal and the police raided at that time and arrested the accused. The 9 animals in the vehicles have been taken into custody. Both the cases have been registered in Baindur Police Station.
