Udupi: Pangala Parish emerges overall champion of 12th ICYM Inter-Parish Konkani Singing Competition

Pangla/Shankerpura, 25 Oct 2015: Pangala Parish emerged as the over-all Champions of 12th ICYM inter-parish konkani singing competition held on Sunday the 25th October 2015 at Sabha Bhavan of St. John Evangelist Church.  Petri Parish bagged the second and Barkur Parish bagged the third place in over all championship.

 

In total 18 parishes competed in the tough competition held for seven categories i.e.  for the age group of: a) Under 15 Boys Solo b) Under 15 Girls c) Under 15 mixed group d) Above 15 Men’s Solo e) Above 15 Ladies Solo f) Above 15 mixed group and  g) Above 15 Duet.  In total 224 participants took place in the mesmerizing melodious singing competition which enthralled the audience through-out the competition.

 

 

The event began with a warm and hearty welcome accorded by ICYM president and followed by inaugural of the competition by lighting the traditional lamp by guests and organizers namely: Rev. Fr. Leslie D’Souza (Parish Priest, Pangala Parish), Rev. Fr. Vincent Coello (Principal- St. John’s PU College), the judges of the day Mr. Ashit Pinto, Ms. Babita Pinto and Mr. Richard Monteiro, Mr. Mark Vaz (Vice President-Parish Council), Ms. Simi D’Souza (Secretary-Parish Council),  Mrs. Clara Mendona (Animator-ICYM), Franklin Martis (President ICYM) and Ms. Rhea D’Souza (Gen Secretary – ICYM).

 

Fr. Leslie D’Souza spoke on the occasion and commanded the preparation and hard work put up by ICYM members and thanked all the participants who have come from near and far away parishes and accorded a hearty welcome to them.

Under 15 Girls Solo (total participants 14)
