Your Helping Hand Will Brighten the Futrure of Economically Backward Students of Moodubelle

Moodubelle, 27 May 2010: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime …” Chinese Proverb
The above Chinese proverb says it all. The acquisition of knowledge through formal education is fundamental for the success of any individual as education shapes one’s life and makes him or her ready for tomorrow’s challenges.
Our great educational institutions of Moodubelle, namely, the Church Aided Higher Primary School and St. Lawrence High School and PU College have been imparting education during the past many years and doing a yeomen’s job in providing the education to the students of Moodubelle and surrounding areas.
Today, due to increasing poverty, social constraints and some other reasons many of our children do not go to the schools and few discontinue their studies at very early stage. A family having enough income tries to send its children to best known schools to make them ready to face tomorrows challenges while a poor family is left with no option but to discontinue the studies of their children and these children end up as child labourers, assisting their parents in generating income by which their whole life will take a wrong turn at an early age.
“Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of Choice; It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.” William Jennings Bryan
Bellevision has been committed to the cause of the educational needs of poorer children and has been supporting the cause since last 10 years. Members of Bellevision have been contributing their hard earned money for all these years and will continue to do so to achieve the goal of social transformation.
Bellevision gets regular requests from our schools back home and from parents of needy children asking financial support. There are several children whose parents do not have necessary income to pay for the fees, books, uniform, etc. Also there are several other children who are intelligent, pass their examinations regularly with distinction but cannot afford to continue higher studies due to economic reasons. Bellevision feels that it is the responsibility of all the members to support all these needy children so that their tomorrow will be happy and they will have a successful life.
As the request for educational support is quite higher this year, we request Bellevision readers and well wishers to support for this noble cause. When everyone contributes, we will be able to achieve the goal. The minimum cost of educating a child in the Higher Primary School at Moodubelle is around Rs.1500/- where as in High School it is around Rs. 3000/- The cost of higher education is still higher. We can meet these requirements by collective efforts and action. Just a small amount of Rupees 1500 or 3000 per year can shape life of our poorer children back in our village. Are we ready to make this sacrifice? We are sure you will support this worthy cause and help to put back smile on those innocent faces.
Names of all those who contribute for the Education support will be published in this website. And also Bellevison promises to take complete responsibility towards having proper accountability of funds and will make sure that such valuable contributions from you will be used only for the Educational purposes. Necessary updates in this regard will be communicated through the press releases on this website from time to time.
Kindly send your generous contributions to the following bank account and please do intimate us by email (bellevision@gmail.com) whenever you send such amount.

This has been one among the great initiatives by Bellevision for a noble cause. Very good thought by Mr. Victor Castelino to link this project to the Centenary celebrations of the parish and have a hundred children benefit from it. Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something. As Mother Teresa said we can do no great things, only small things with great love. So let us help these little children.

Five days since my comment, and no one has accepted to have hired child labor in Belle. Until we acknowledge the root of the problem, we treat only the symptoms. Not cure the illness. Unless an issue is pursued, media reports will not rise above pententh aikalli khobor l

Two angles to this story: first, the laudatory charitable work Bellevision is spearheading with or with and without the support of donors. Very good. Second: It is hard for me to believe that such poverty exists in Belle. Is this native or imported poverty? Even if it is imported, they deserve help. But, the importers have a responsibility. They should pay fiar wages to adult workers and should not use child labor. I expect the leaders at gram panchayat, zilla parishad and such local bodies should sit up and take notice of this crime.
