Khap Panchayat near Delhi ’orders killing of eloped couple’

Greater Noida, 06 July 2010:  A Khap Panchayat in Greater Noida has ruled that a Dalit boy, who apparently eloped with a Brahmin girl from another village, will have to face the consequences if the girl does not return home.

 

 

The boy’s family in village Daula has alleged that the Khap Panchayat has ordered the killing of the couple. His family members also claim that the Panchayat has threatened other women of the village against committing such things.

The Greater Noida police said the residents of the boy’s village will be given protection.
