New Delhi, 24 September 2010: The head of the Commonwealth Games Federation says the conditions in the Games village have improved and pushed for work to bring the facilities up to par to continue. India has come under enormous criticism for its last-minute preparations and for the filthy state of the games village less than two weeks before the event was to start.

Several teams have delayed their arrival and some athletes have pulled out. Federation President Mike Fennell was touring the village on Friday morning. He said in a statement that “considerable improvements” were made in the village. “It is vital that all remedial work that has already started continues with the greatest urgency,” he said.
