New Delhi, 18 Dec 2023: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out searches at 19 locations in South India by busting a “highly-radicalised jihadi terror group”, which has been predominantly active in the digital space.
The raids are currently underway at 11 locations in Karnataka, three location in Maharashtra, four areas in Jharkhand and one in Delhi in close coordination with the state police forces.
Sources indicate that the terror group intended to target multiple locations across India and was engaged in anti-India activities.
In an earlier operation, the NIA on December 6 carried out at several locations across Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the terror conspiracy hatched and operationalised by offshoots of the banned Pakistan-backed terrorist organisations, the investigating agency said.
The searches led to the seizure of several digital devices containing large volumes of incriminating data and documents, it said.

The NIA’s crackdown comes days after it conducted raids at over 40 locations in Karnataka and Maharashtra in connection to the ISIS terror conspiracy case. The investigation agency also arrested 13 individuals from Maharashtra’s Pune in connection to the case.
The raids came as part of the investigation related to the terror plot influenced by terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS.
