10-year-old boy dies after being beaten up by teachers
Bhopal, 05 Dec 2012 (PTI): A ten-year-old boy, who was allegedly beaten up by his two teachers at government primary school at Pathakheda in Betul district, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital here, police said today.
Aslam Ansari, a class four student, who was admitted to Hamidia Hospital in the city died yesterday, they said.
Aslam’s two teachers-- Birju Kumar Sonaria and Vijay Ram Bhagat--had beaten him up brutally in the school on November 16, following which he suffered critical back bone and neck injuries.
While Birju Kumar has been arrested in this connection, the other accused is still absconding, police said.
According to them, the incident had taken place when Aslam had gone to tell the teachers that somebody had broken a bucket in the school. However, the duo started beating him up, though he told them that he did not break it.
Later, when Aslam told his parents about the incident, they came to his school and asked the teachers why their son was beaten up. The teachers gave Rs 200 to them for his treatment and Aslam was admitted to a government hospital.
Seeing no improvement in Aslam’s health, his parents took him to Nagpur for treatment. However, due to his serious condition, doctors expressed their inability to treat him and he was finally brought to Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal, where he breathed his last yesterday, police said.
Police had registered a case in this regard only yesterday.

Unbelievable, but true. Why, why, why? We know the answer, but are unwilling to acknowledge. We are caught in a time warp. We harp on 5000-yr old great civilization. We berate the west for their decadence. But western decadence is of more of body and less of soul. We cover our bodies from head to to, may be. We have Victorian sexual attitudes, may be. We are deeply religious, may be. Yet, we are not as humane, kind and tolerant as we claim to be. The west has simply beaten us in this department. We need to accept depravity of our souls and set about doing something to change that. It is not a legal issue only. | |
