Udupi: Destitute Subraya cared by Vishwasadamane, reunited with family after 6 years

Udupi, 29 Jun 2014: The staff of Vishwasadamane orphanage at nearby Shirva, here rescued a destitute man who was found loitering from the national highway at Shankarapura, here on February 21 2008. They bathed him and gave a hair cut. The psychiatrist diagnosed him mentally unsound and was under treatment for some years. Meanwhile, he recovered from his ailments and confessed that his name is Subraya who has studied up till Class VIII. His wife passed away in 1993 and has 2 children, among them one has passed away when small. Subraya began working as wood cutter and mason’s helper at Vishwasadamane.
The mentally unsound Subraya was missing since 9 years, while his son Unnikrishnan completed B Com and married with 2 children. Despite Unnikrishnan lodged complaint at the local Mala police station, and the local Malayalam dailies Matrabhoomi and Deshabhimani published picture of Subraya with detailed report, all in vain. The crime team of Kerala visited Vishwasadame on June 19 2014 and has taken the picture of Subraya along with them. The policemen found out the location of Subraya’s family and informed them Subraya is in the care of Vishwasadamane.
Unnikrishnan, his nephews Mani and Jishad have arrived at Vishwasadamane here on Saturday June 28 and taken Subraya with them to their home. They thanked Vishwasadamane chief functionary Pastor Sunil D’Souza and volunteers for caring Subraya for all these years before setting off to Kerala.
