Kuwait: UMK to Present Konkani Play during ’Fun Filled Evening - 2014’ for Noble Cause

Kuwait, 23 Jun 2014: United Mangaloreans Kuwait (UMK) is all geared up to host the fifth ‘Fun Filled Evening – 2014’ at American International School auditorium, Hawalli, here on Friday October 3 at 4.00pm.
The objective of the group is to help the underprivileged back home in Mangalore. In the past 4 years, UMK has contributed total sum of Rs 44 lac to 4 needy organizations in and around Mangalore. The benefited charity firms are Sneha Sadan - AIDS Center, Gurpur - Mangalore (Rs 4.14 lac), Navachetana Special School at Venur (Rs 9.11 lac), White Doves of Mangalore (Rs 14.47 lac), Little Sisters of Poor – Home for the Aged, Bajjodi – Mangalore (Rs 16.08 lac). This was possible only due to the overwhelming support from the sponsors and well-wishers who have contributed generously.
This year UMK will present a Konkani comedy drama, ‘Sagle Dinvchen Thane, by playwright Pradeep Barboza, Paladka and directed by experienced director Ronald D’Souza - Mulky, along with variety of lively melodious songs and foot-tapping dances, in aid of 2 institutions: Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Center for the differently-abled, situated at Pamboor, Udupi district of Karnataka, India and De Mercede Orphanage, destitute children home, who provides shelter and education with love and care for the underprivileged children, situated at Panir, Deralakatte, Mangalore run by Ursuline Franciscan Congregation.
The muhurat of drama was held recently. The event started with the prayer lead by Vrinda Lewis, followed by lighting of lamp by the guests on the dais.
Gurkar of UMK Agnel Saldanha welcomed the gathering, and thanked all those who supported UMK whole heartedly in all these years. Joel Pinto gave a brief introduction of UMK and its achievements in the past 4 years.
The director of the drama Ronald D’Souza, Mulky released the script book. The treasurer Nancy Pinto urged the gathering to make Fun Filled Evening - 2014 a grand success.
James D’Sa spoke about UMK’s hard work in bringing a smile on the needy brethren back home in Mangalore and stressed for the unity of the members.
MacLean Rodrigues conducted the oath taking. Mario Wilson Cornelio compered the event.
