Kuwait: Bishop Dr Gerald Lobo of Udupi diocese lauds humanitarian deeds of UMK

Kuwait, 30 Apr 2014: The members and their families of United Mangaloreans Kuwait (UMK) gathered at Clifford Aranha’s residence located at Salmiya here on Sunday April 27 evening to meet visiting Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi diocese. It was indeed a historical moment for UMK family to be with Bishop Dr Lobo.
The Bishop arrived in Kuwait to grace the silver jubilee celebration of Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) which was held on Friday April 25.
UMK Gurkar Agnel Saldanha, advisor Roque Lewis along with Clifford Aranha and Purandara Manchi welcomed Bishop Dr Lobo and Fr Noel D’Almeida, assistant parish priest of St Daniel Comboni parish, Kuwait with flower bouquets.
Bishop Dr Lobo blessed the gathering on the same occasion.
Lucy Aranha conducted a prayer service ahead of beginning the programme.
The comperer Shawn Pereira welcomed the UMK family members, praised them for their continued support and whole-heartedly thanked KCWA for providing such a wonderful opportunity to spend some time closely with our beloved Bishop Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo and congratulated KCWA for the grand celebration of twenty-fifth anniversary.
Pereira wished the success to Bishop Dr Lobo in building up the diocese and assured of all possible support from UMK in this regard.
Doris Lobo in her report gave a brief introduction, achievements of UMK over the past 5 years and handed over the copy of report to Bishop Dr Lobo.
Roque Lewis presented memento to Bishop Dr Lobo, as a token of UMK’s love and gratitude.
Speaking on the occasion, Bishop Dr Lobo conveyed his Easter greetings, elaborated on his vision and mission towards newly-formed Udupi diocese, its needs, and priorities. He stressed the importance of providing education, health care, Catholic community’s participation in the various fields including politics.
Bishop Dr Lobo lauded the achievements of UMK and said that UMK is a unique group that he has ever come across which has genuine concert to reach-out to needy brethren.
Fr Noel D’Almeida said grace before meal.
UMK family members did not spare the opportunity to click the pictures with their beloved Bishop Dr Lobo.
The home-made mouthwatering sea food meal served to the gathered.
