Doha: MCC Qatar shares Christmas spirit with children

Doha, 16 Dec 2013: Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) Qatar ushered in the spirit of Christmas with the Children’s Christmas party that was organized on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Al Jazeera Academy Hall.. And in a place where there are few Christmas activities, this children’s celebration was like a breath of fresh air as the whole atmosphere was in a festive mood decorated with christmas tree, crib, star and christmas colours.. Ninety children of the club, in the age groups of 0 to sixteen years, attended the party and shared in the joy, celebration and gifts from Santa Claus.
The evening began with a prayer by Gina Noronha, President Sunil D’Silva welcomed the children, all dressed in red. Shalini Monteiro delivered a beautiful Christmas message. Our own young children’s choir sang beautifully the Christmas carols while Emelita Martis played the music on keyboard for them and ushered in the spirit of Christmas The evening program was emceed by young and enthusiastic Melissa Crasto.
Some interesting games such as lucky santa’s cap, fixing the nose of reindeer, christmas tongue twisters and spot prizes were conducted for children who enjoyed their evening to the fullest in the group of their friends. The highlight of the evening was the appearance of Santa Claus who danced and sang with the children and gave away sweets.
President and Excom members along with children cut the christmas cake. Goodies and Christmas souvenir were distributed to all the children along with snacks. Cultural Secretary Riana Pinto gave away the prizes to the winners.
MCC would like to thank the sponsors Wilfred Fernandes for the lovely cake, Cyril D’Cunha for the Christmas goodies and volunteers Lona Pinto, William Lobo, Glylon Rodrigues and others who were instrumental in bringing in the Christmas cheer and putting a smile on the faces of the little children.
