M’lore: Celebration of 67th Independence Day at Mount Carmel

Mangalore, 15 Aug 2013: Mount Carmel Central School (MCCS), Mary Hill, here celebrated the sixty-seventh Independence Day on Thursday August 15 at 8.20am on the school grounds.
MCCS joint secretary Sr Ida Barboza AC hoisted the National Flag.
The students of Class IV - X marched rhythmically to the patriotic tunes played by the school band.
The students of Class XI led a short and meaningful prayer service invoking God’s Blessings on our Country and its citizens and prayed for peace, prosperity and harmony.
Sarah D’Souza of Class IX was felicitated at this function for winning 2 gold and 1silver medal in 400 meters, 1000 meters and medley relay at the Karnataka state Athletics Association Championship held at Shimoga on August 4 to 6.
Sr Ida Barboza AC, in her address motivated the students to imbibe the spirit of patriotism and to work for peace and unity and later for the betterment of the country.

It was a meaningful and a festive day for the staff, students and parents at Mount Carmel.
Safa Suleman of Class XI welcomed the gathering. Preetham Correa and Abeer Altaf of Class XI compered the programme. Rebecca Albuquerque of Class IX proposed the vote of thanks.
The students of UKG and Class IX staged variety cultural shows on the occasion.
