Hassan: DC Mohanraj expects 80 % Turnout in Assembly Elections on May 5

Hassan,3 May 2013: In the upcoming assembly election on Sunday May 5, the voters’ turnout is expected to be over 80 percent, said Deputy Commissioner K P Mohanraj.
Addressing the media persons at Deputy Commissioner’s chamber here on Thursday May 2, Mohanraj said that 1,891 voting centers are established in 7 legislative assembly elections across the district. Each polling officer and assistant polling officer is assigned to each polling center. Besides, 2 local group D and an officer will be allowed at each location. Fifty-seven additional polling officers are assigned to each polling centers of 57 that exceeds 1,200 voters. Two-hundred-forty-two buses, 91 jeeps and 22 maxi-cabs will transport the polling staff across the district.
The electioneering officers had to report to mastering center at 5.30am on Saturday May 5. KSRTC buses will transport the election staff to different locations.
The voters’ slips will be hand delivered to voters at their door step by polling agents.
The security arrangements were made for 1,891 polling centers, besides video camera and micro observers are assigned to monitor the polling. Web-cam has been installed for the first time in 3 polling centers location in rural area and 2 polling centers in urban area.
The contesting candidates are not allowed to erect booth within the perimeters of 200 meters from polling center.
A candidate is allowed to assign a lone agent at each polling center.
