Miss Khoobsorath – Fashion Show successfully held at ISC Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, 03 Jun 2012: May 31, 2012 was the most memorable day for Farzeen Kachalia as she outshone other 25 contestants to win the prestigious Miss Khoobsoorat ISC Fashion pageant. Twentysix dazzlingly beautiful young women above 18 took part in one of the most memorable fashion shows exhibiting their beautiful dresses and faces.
The contest was held under three categories, namely, ethnic wear, casual wear and evening wear. Farzeen Kachalia not only outclassed all other contestants in winning the beauty crown but was also declared the most photogenic among ten magnificent finalists. The 1st runner up slot was bagged by Maitri Somaia and 2nd runner up was Anisha Sinha.
The great event began with a welcome speech from president Thomas John, followed by a Bollywood dance by young teens, which was choreographed by well-know Bharatnatyam dance teacher Asha Nair. Padma Shri Dr B R Shetty was invited to the dais on the occasion and felicitated with a bouquet. Dr Shetty spoke highly about the annual fashion show which is being held over the last 39 years and said he had made it a point to attend as many of them as possible. He commended the committee members of ISC for their hard work in putting up the type of grand shows and wished them good luck.
The contest was judged by six prominent personalities in UAE and they did a good job putting across the right questions to the contestants, based on current situation in India and World. The participants for the contest were Preeti Rehnsi, Mridula Raghupati, Jennifer Sequeira, Namrata Kudva, Maitri Somaia, Farzeena Kachalia, Anisha Sinha, Mariam Ahmed, Kavita Raghu, Sneha Rege, Ashwarya Madhu, Mikky Koshi Mathew, Shivneet Kaur, Aparna Satyadas, Ritika Singh, Rashmi, Chitra Gopi Nair, Veena Moolchandani, Reena Fernandes, Chinju Varghese and Priya Medhekar.
The first round was held for India ethnic wear wherein all contestants walked the ramp wearing attractive saris, the second round for casual or western wear and the final round was wonder evening wear.
After the three rounds, the ten were selected for the question round by judges and there too all of them excelled with good marks but a few were outstanding. All the contestants were felicitated with gift hampers prior to the final contest by Dr Shetty, Usha Sarvotham Shetty and Indian embassy officials.
A few dances too were presented during the breaks and Radio Mirchi RJ Shraddha and Shruti filled in the gaps with their rib-tickling humour and did a good job as emcees of the day, entertaining the audience all the time.
The show came to an end with the winners returning with broad smiles along with their parents.
