Teachers Day - Guruvandane celebrated in St. Joseph’s School, Belmannu

Belmannu, 05 Sept 2011: Speaking at the celebration of the Teachers Day (Guruvandana) at St. Joseph’s School, Belmannu on Saturday, 3 September 2011, the Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Counci, Mr. Gregory Menezes said that the role of teachers is very important in the lives of the students who shape their future. Thus, students should show great respect to the teachers and become exemplary citizens of the country.
Rev. Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, the Correspondent of the school presided over the function and said that touching the feet of the teachers is one of the significant culture of India by which the students pay respect to their teachers. On the part of the teachers, imparting education with values would further enhance their respect in the eyes of the students and society.
Sr. Monica, Headmistress of the school and teachers-Severine Mendonca, Juliana Moras,Lilly D’Souza, Sr. Daisy, Vincent Pinto, Lavina Pinto, Harshendra Kumar Jain, and Kum. Joyce were present on the dais. Students honoured the teachers by presenting them flower bouquets and by arranging various games for the teachers.
Kum. Ranjita R. Pujary welcomed the teachers, Sushma Shenoy explained the importance of the day in introductory speech, Abhishek Bangera compeered the programme and Pravin Kumar proposed the vote of thanks.
