Bantwal woman tests Covid +ve; first fatality in DK
Mangaluru, 19 Apr 2020: A 50-year-old woman who passed away at Wenlock hospital earlier this morning (April 19) has tested positive for coronavirus.
The woman hailing from Bantwal was admitted to the hospital on Saturday after she complained of breathing problems. She passed away on Sunday morning after her health condition deteriorated.
This is the first Covid 19 related death in Dakshina Kannada district.
The deceased woman’s husband and son have been placed in quarantine while her mother-in-law’s condition is said to be serious and has been admitted to the ICU.
The throat swab samples of the trio have been sent for examination and the report is awaited.
The deceased woman’s son had arrived from Dubai on March 16.
Bantwal city police made announcement of the seal-down of the area through loudspeakers and directed people to stay indoors.
